Summary:
Planifi is an intuitive project management tool with three main areas:
-
Plan Area: This is where individual projects are scheduled and staffed. The list of projects is typically imported from a financial system. You can search for projects by any part of their name or number, or use filters to narrow down the list according to your preferences. You can filter projects by PM, principal, office, studio, market, or using advanced filters based on project properties.
Once you select a project, you'll see high-level information in the summary section such as the PM, principal, and client. The dollars area will display the fee job to date from the financial system. The Estimate to Complete will come from the project plan, as will the Estimate at Completion. The Labor Available will calculate for you how much over or under budget you're projected to be, and how much planning you can still do on the project.
You can begin scheduling a project and staffing it using the Assignment Builder or manually by selecting the phases or tasks you would like to schedule. Dates can be edited manually or interactively using the schedule view. The Gantt chart is interactive, allowing you to drag to move or extend dates. You can also set task dependencies.
-
Projects Area: This area provides a portfolio view of multiple projects on one screen. Here, you can see and edit multiple projects simultaneously. It also allows you to set task dependencies and edit dates interactively.
-
Employee Area: Here you can see employees, the projects they're scheduled to work on, and how many hours per week or month they're scheduled to work on those projects. Employees can be filtered by team, which can be established by discipline, office, or using the team manager to establish your own teams. Employee cards display their name, role, and rate. Next to each employee is their availability over the next two months, allowing you to see who is overbooked and who has availability.
Employees can be assigned to projects, with hours assigned in total or weekly. Staff can also be assigned using the quick search function, or by using copy and paste to copy and paste one team from one phase or task to the next.
Planifi also includes advanced planning features such as the ability to refine hours from one week to the next, and the ability to switch from column view to the Project Grid view to view detailed editing by week or month.
Planifi also allows you to adjust your defaults such as Auto Save and Auto Refresh in the profile section. Here, you can also change your default from total hours to weekly or vice versa, and set default hour values as well as default favorite teams.
Once you've made your edits and refreshed the page, the calculations will show you an Estimate to Complete and an Estimate at Completion based on the plan, and the Labor Available will calculate how much over or under budget you're projected to be.
Planifi is a comprehensive tool that offers advanced features for effective project planning and management, enabling you to align your project plans with the remaining contract value, providing a clear picture of your project's financial status and aiding in effective project management.
