Planifi's Discipline Management is an optional feature that provides a discipline-specific perspective on projects. This tool can be particularly useful for project managers or discipline leads, allowing them to view, manage, and assess project data through the lens of their respective disciplines.
The Discipline Management tool offers a Discipline Budget feature that presents budget data unique to each discipline on every phase and task of a project. This budget data can be automatically imported from a financial system data source. If such data isn't available, the budget can be manually edited or imported from the project plan, using the amount of hours allocated to each discipline.
Discipline Management also provides a 'Job to Date' feature which shows the charges accumulated by each discipline over time. For example, on a 'Design Development' phase, if there is no budget for architecture, the tool can still show that architecture has charged 800 hours, equating to a billable value of $15,000. Similarly, if the civil discipline has charged 53 hours, it will show a cost of $7,300.
A key feature of Discipline Management is the ability to filter the entire project plan by a single discipline. For instance, if you select the 'Architecture' discipline, the tool will only show the architectural fee, the job-to-date for architecture, and the Estimated Cost at Completion (ECAC) for architecture. This can give you a clear picture of how a specific discipline is performing within a project.
The tool also allows for discipline overrides. For example, if an employee, Jean, is typically an architect but is reassigned to a roadway project, you can override Jean's default discipline to reflect this change. This means Jean's hours, budget, and ECAC on the roadway project will be counted under the roadway discipline, even though Jean is normally an architect.
Planifi's Discipline Management offers a unique perspective on project management, allowing you to view project data through the lens of specific disciplines. With its comprehensive discipline-specific data and flexible features, this tool can be a valuable asset for effective project management.
