Click the Schema dropdown to Add a new schema or click the Pencil next to a schema name to edit it.
If you’re adding a new Schema/View, start by giving it name, and then you choose Simple/In-Line mode which is recommended, or Stacked/Sub-grid mode (which may be disabled if you’re not using Planifi Enterprise), examples of both grids are shown below.
Simple/In-line makes it easier choose the columns and keeps them in-line, so that if you choose a value like Actual Name, that will show the Project name at the 1st Level, Phase/Task name at the second level, and Employee at the 3rd Level, the same would apply for other values like JTD or ETC.
If you use Stacked mode you must choose what values to show at each level, and the columns will not be fixed inline. Using Simple mode you’ll see fields group together in sections like Standard, Advanced, Expense & Consultant, Custom, & Discipline column. Within each section choose the columns you like to show, and rearrange the order by dragging columns up and down with the three dots (…) to the left of the Column Name. Lastly, if you have permission, you may click Is Global to make the Schema/View available to all other users.
Here is an example of the Simple view where you can see the Actual Name column shows the value at each level in 1 fixed column.
If you use Stacked mode you must choose what values to show at each level, you can see below there’s 3 sections you can expand, Project, WBS2 (Phase/Task), WBS3 (Employe). At each level you must choose what columns to select.
Here is an example of the Sub Grid view where you can see the Name column is not in line and the columns may vary from one grid/level to the next.
Video Summary:
In Planifi, 'schemas' are user-friendly column choosers that determine what columns are displayed on the left side of your screen at each level of the project.
Accessing Schemas:
Schemas can be found in the top right corner of the Planifi interface.
Schema Modes:
Planifi provides two schema modes:
- Simple/Inline Mode: In this mode, all data stays aligned at all levels, meaning the names, phase or number values, and start and end dates will be in line. This mode is recommended in most cases.
- Stacked Mode: In this mode, you can have different values at each level, allowing different columns at the project level, phase or task level, and employee level.
Creating a New Schema:
To create a new schema, follow these steps: - Click on 'Add New' in the schema dropdown menu.
- Choose the mode for your schema (simple/inline or stacked).
- Give your schema a name.
- In the stacked mode, choose what values you want at each level. You can uncheck the boxes for values you don't want and drag to rearrange the order. In the simple mode, specify the actual name or code.
- Some of the values have 'hours and dollars' or two values at once.
- If you have permission, you can make the schema global, meaning all employees in the company will be able to use it.
Editing a Schema:
To edit an existing schema, simply choose the schema from the dropdown menu and click on the pencil icon. Uncheck the boxes for the columns you don't want, and check the boxes for the columns you do want.
Remember, any of the columns can be renamed to whatever you want. Once you're done, hit 'save' and reapply the schema to see the changes.
Using Schemas in Different Areas:
The process of editing schemas is the same in the employee area or the projects area. In the employee area, by default, there are just two levels: the employee and the phase or task for that employee.
Creating and editing schemas in Planifi allows for a personalized and streamlined user experience. By defining what information is displayed and where, you can tailor the interface to better suit your needs and preferences.
Take your time to explore different schemas and don't be afraid to tweak them based on what you need. Remember, you can always reach out to Planifi support for any assistance.
